“No legacy is so rich as honesty”
Bolton, MA
Bolton is a residential and agricultural community east of the Nashua River Valley. This town has gently sloping hills but no major streams, so the earliest sources of power for manufacturing were not available in its earliest years.
Bolton’s rich forests and geological deposits of lime combined supplemented the farming economy. The town had lime kilns and limestone quarries and produced potash, line and bricks.
Agricultural uses grew to include orchards and dairy farming by the 19th century. Much of this rural landscape is still intact in a town that is now primarily a residential suburb for the greater #495 corridor.
Bolton is located 17 miles northeast of Worcester and approximately 31 miles northwest of Boston, with a population of approximately 3200.
