Grafton was incorporated in 1735, separated from the town of Sutton. It was the third of the original praying towns set up to Christianize the Indians.
Today Grafton is a residential community with light industrial, commercial and technology business activity. Tufts Veterinarian School is located on the original Grafton State Hospital grounds.
